VILLA DE LEYVA – COLOMBIA

Villa de Leyva, a small city located. 3.5 hours from Bogotá and 2.140 meters of altitude.

Villa de Leyva was founded on June 12, 1572 by Hernan Suarez de Villalobos, but the city´s name was given in honor of the first President of Nueva Granada, Andres Diaz Villa de Leyva.

This beautiful town all built in colonial style was declared “National Monument” in 1954.

Visitors can walk over its cobbled paving streets and discover its gigantic Main Plaza, all surrounded by streets that evoke past times on which old mansions have been adapted to first class hotels in order to accomodate the turists.
